Please pay attention to the important information in preparation for your SLIMMING appointment for maximum results:
Please DO NOT EAT or DRINK any sugar, foods that contain sugar or carbohydrates that convert into sugar (i.e. fruit, juices, white bread, white rice, pasta, etc.) 2 hours prior to your appointment time.
Try to avoid working out or doing anything that increases your body temperature at least ONE hour before your session.
Within 8 hours prior to your appointment, consume at least 64 ounces of water.
Within 12 hours after your appointment, consume an additional 64 ounces of water.
Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Is it safe?
The device is very safe. The cooling system is controlled by an electronic temperature sensor located in the processing head of the device and the temperature is controlled in real time by a curve and figures displayed in real time on the screen. In the event of a malfunction, the device alerts the operator by sounding a tone and displaying an error message.
How do you define a session? Is it multiple body parts?
The best way to define a session is it is always advisable to treat on the upper OR lower body in a session. For example, legs is one session, or love handles is one session.
How does it work?
The machine itself functions by a Peltier effect (thermoelectric cooling) regulated by a hydraulic system which ensures a very high inertia which is necessary for the correct application of the treatment in a minimum amount of time. These characteristics, which are very difficult to obtain, make it possible to enact a very rapid cooling of the fat tissues while avoiding the risk of lesions of the skin tissue due to an application that is too long. The principle of the treatment is to lower the temperature of the fat cells enough to cause what is called the phenomenon of apoptosis. This phenomenon is triggered when the temperature of the fat tissues is between 17° and 12° and consists of a self-programming of the death of these cells.
What are the benefits?
The major benefit sought is a large decrease in fat mass. Subjects tested were measured and received results of between 15% and 40% which was visualized by CT scans. On the other hand, it must not be forgotten that the apparatus is not only capable of emitting cold but also of heat and of causing the two to alternate, thus causing "thermal shock". This method of thermal shock is medically recognized to be particularly restorative for tissues by a significant increase of local microcirculation and collagen.
How does it feel?
The feeling is rather pleasant at the start of the treatment, which is generally done with a short period of skin warming and a gradual but rapid decrease of the temperature. At the end of the treatment, the thermal shock appears very quickly, which gives a feeling of warmth and lightness at the same time.
Who shouldn't do it?
There are few contraindications to treatment. But we must still be vigilant to some pathologies:
Raynaud's syndrome
Allergy to cold
Pregnant woman
Strong diabetes
Cancer
How often can I do a Slimming or Toning Treatment?
The usual frequency is 1 treatment every 15 days (for slimming treatments). There is a physiological reason for this: when apoptosis occurs and fat cells die, waste is formed. This will be eliminated by natural routes (blood, lymphatic system, and then urine). Metabolism must, therefore, be allowed to evacuate this waste without overloading the circuits.
Toning treatments can be performed once every week.
How often can I do a CryoFacial Treatment?
For clients under 45: 1x per week for first 5 sessions, then maintain as needed
For clients over 45: 1x per 3-4 days for first 5 sessions, then maintain as needed
What do I need to bring?
Nothing. If anything, the best possible diet and lifestyle to accompany the treatments (drink plenty of water in particular).
Do I lose weight with this treatment?
It is very common that there is a loss of weight during the treatment. This is due both to the loss of fat mass but also to the drainage techniques (exercise, etc) and the diet and lifestyle required.
What is the difference between this and other Cryo treatments?
There are other manual cryotherapy machines. But tests and experience have shown that no other machine is currently capable of an inertia as strong as the Cryoskin. This inertia is due to the fact that the device does not only produce cold. It works by heat exchange with the body and the ability to descend very strongly and very quickly the temperature of the tissues by absorption of calories, accumulation of calories and evacuation by a system equipped with a ventilated hydraulic radiator.
How quickly will I see results?
The first results are generally visible from the first session and often very encouraging. However, it should be noted that the best results appear from 15 days to 3 weeks after the start of treatment and extend for several months after the end of treatment.
How long do those results last?
Depending on the individual and depending also on their lifestyle and diet, the results last several months or several years. It is advisable to practice 2 or 3 sessions 6 months after the end of treatment to maintain results.
What is unique about the Facial treatment using Cryoskin?
Cryolipolysis is the use of below-zero temperatures to eliminate fat in the body whereas thermotherapy is the use of cold temperatures to rejuvenate and smooth the skin. Used for massaging the face and the body, CRYOSKIN delivers temperatures between -2°C to +4°C with the following effects:
Accelerates biochemical reactions, increasing the oxygen and nutrient supply to the tissue, obtaining a draining effect.
Stimulates the production of collagen, improving the elasticity of the skin.
Firms muscles which retract with the cold.
Lasts for several months with only a few sessions.
The CRYOSKIN is the only device on the market offering facial rejuvenation treatments.
How old do I have to be to receive treatment?
15 years or older
Why do you need the gel?
The gel has been specially designed to retain all its qualities of gliding and protection from -30 ° up to + 60 °. Apart from the fact that the treatment head will have difficulty sliding on the skin, the heat and especially the cold will be much less penetrating and the risks of spontaneous freezing of the water contained in the surface tissues will be increased, therefore increasing the risk of alteration of these tissues. The treatment will thus be much less effective and much less pleasant or even unpleasant. The results will not be there and this is one of the few causes of failure.
Why is this effective for Cellulite?
The treatment causes vasodilation in the blood vessels. This increases blood flow which results in increased collagen production. Collagen helps to break down cellulite.
Is it okay to treat people who have an open wound?
No. Unless you cover the wound with some sort of plaster. The reason for this is not to pass bodily fluid onto the Wand. If you cover the wound, then treat through the cover the treatment should help to heal due to increased blood flow to the area.
Is it okay to treat people after wax/laser hair removal?
It’s best to wait 1 week after these treatments to make sure the treated areas are fully healed.
Why can you not eat sugar for 2 hours after?
To get the best results following a Cryoskin session, you should not eat sugar 2 hours before and after the session. The reason is sugar is a strong power source for fat cells. It’s factual, all nutritionists would attest that to succeed a diet slimming, sugar is the first thing to stop. As you know, the cold weakens and retracts the adipocyte but if you eat sugar, that will give it back immediate energy so the apoptosis effect will be less efficient or even could be canceled. Be careful, when we talk about sugar, we talk about all kind of sugars as slow sugar (pasta, rice, bread, cereals…) and of course fast-acting sugar. If possible, the client could avoid all kind of sugar for 4/5 hours before and after the Cryoskin session but it’s a maximum. 2 hours is the usual recommended time to get results.
If I buy a cryoskin session or package, can I return it?
When we sell a Cryoskin session or package, we invest the revenue into Cryoskin supplies and payroll in order to supply the purchased service. Because of this, all sales are final, no returns or refunds.
What is the best temperature during a session?
We get this question a lot, so we will let the experts weigh in. Here is what the medical experts and the team who designed our saunas at sunlighten have to say…
Sunlighten:
“We recommend starting at a lower temperature of 100F and increasing temperature gradually in later sessions, if you still feel comfortable. Everyone has different preferences and tolerances for heat. The most important thing is to listen to your body.
Keep in mind, if you’re sweating at 115 degrees you’re getting the same benefits as if you’re sweating at 150 degrees."
How cheaper infrared brands are hotter in temperature
Sunlighten:
Learn all you can about the heater in each sauna you’re comparing. Some salespeople for other companies may suggest that a blend of ceramic and carbon infrared heaters are better than carbon alone, that the blend provides an “extra burst” of infrared heat. However, carbon heaters, like Sunlighten’s Solocarbon full spectrum and far infrared heaters, emit infrared wavelengths at a more constant temperature through large panels creating an even distribution of comforting heat throughout the sauna.
Ceramic heaters were the first type of infrared sauna heaters available, though are no longer the technology of choice. Ceramic elements emit heat at very high temperatures in a condensed area and are unsafe to touch. The myth that a carbon/ceramic blend provides an extra punch or is more effective is simply not true. Here at Sunlighten, we tested the concept years ago and found no advantage to blending the materials. Hotter is not always better – with hotter temperatures you will spend less time in the sauna, making your sessions less effective. What truly matters is how effective the heaters are at conducting infrared heat!
Why is Lower Infrared Heater Temperature Better?
Our bodies operate at a frequency of 9.4 microns. The closer the infrared is to this 9.4 microns, the better the absorption of the rays and the deeper the penetration. This also results in more toxins being shaken off the fat cells.
This is called resonance frequency. We know that certain sound waves can vibrate glass and a singer’s voice can even break glass. In a similar fashion, the closer the microns are to the ideal 9.4, the better the cellular resonance frequency.
No heater will remain exactly at 9.4 microns. But the cooler the heater element itself is, the more time it will have near this level.
Cheap carbon panels need to be much hotter to produce any viable amount of heat for the user and quickly move past the ideal micron levels. This is another reason they are very poor choices for true detoxification.
Clearlight was one of the first companies to pioneer lower temperature carbon panels that are also powerful in the amount of emissivity and healing they provide. This is one reason they only require heating elements halfway up the sides of the interior walls. Cheaper brands need panels all the way to the ceiling to produce adequate amounts of emitted heat.
How is A Lower Sauna Temperature Giving me a Better Detox?
Sweat fulfills two primary functions. It cools the body and it removes waste products out of the body. This is accomplished through two main types of sweat glands.
The Apocrine glands, which are located in areas such as the armpits and scalp, secrete sweat which contains higher levels of fats and organic compounds. The second group called Eccrine glands number more than 2 million and are scattered over the entire body, handling most of the sweating process.
These Eccrine glands, over the course of a normal day pump out nearly a quart of sweat. However, in a steam environment of 180 degrees or more, they produce this amount in only 15 minutes. While this cleans the pores and skin, it is also excretes higher amounts of electrolytes. Sweating at these 180+ degree levels requires replacing the lost fluids and electrolytes.
However, using an infrared sauna at the lower temperatures of 110-125 degrees results in a sticker, more fat-laden sweat and less electrolyte loss. In fact the sweat from an infrared sauna session is comprised of up to 20% toxins compared to only 3% toxins in the sweat produced in a high temp steam unit. This is a main reason it is the better choice for detox purposes.
How long is the session?
We offer 25 minute sessions and 50 minute sessions.
How hot will it be?
The rule of thumb is, the hotter a sauna is, the lower quality it is. Our saunas are the best on the market and the temperature will range between 100-140 degrees.
How Safe is Infrared Heat?
Infrared heat is completely safe and healthy for all living things. You can be exposed to infrared light for hours without the risk of burning. Infrared is a naturally occurring output of the sun, but does not contain the harmful UV rays associated with unprotected sunlight. In fact, infrared heat is so safe, it is used in hospitals to warm newborn infants.
What should I wear during my sauna session?
We are family friendly: Robes or shirts must be worn in all common areas. While in the sauna, we recommend wearing a bathing suit or simply a towel we will provide. If you prefer to bring an additional towel from home, you are more than welcome to do so!
*NOTE: please refrain from wearing perfumes, lotions or body oils before your appointment. Some lotions and body oils can cause permanent damage to our saunas.
What if I am late to my session/need to cancel?
We have a strict 24 hour cancelation policy. The reason for this is because our saunas are in high demand and a no-show takes time from another customer that would have used the session. No-shows and late cancels will be charged full price for the session ($40).
Can I bring a friend?
We charge a $20 guest pass for non memners joining our members in the same sauna. If a member brings another member as a guest we only charge for extra robes and towels.
What’s the Difference Between Infrared Saunas and Traditional Saunas?
Infrared heat is very gentle. The experience is similar to lying in the sun on a warm day and feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body. Unlike traditional (hot rock or steam) saunas–which operate at well in excess of 200°F–infrared heat has the benefit of being effective at a more comfortable operating temperature of 100°-150°F.
Traditional saunas heat the air vs. the body directly. Rather than inducing detoxification and relaxation, this can make the experience unbearably hot and difficult to breathe. Because infrared heat penetrates human tissue vs. simply heating the surface of the skin, infrared saunas are seven times more effective than traditional saunas at detoxifying the body. By raising the body’s core temperature, infrared saunas can produce a sweat composed of 20% toxins vs. only 3% toxins with a traditional sauna.
I’m Pregnant. Any Problems if I Use an Infrared Sauna?
We advise you to consult with your own physician before using infrared saunas while pregnant.
How old do I have to be to use the sauna?
You must be 18 or older to use the sauna.
